The Wheelgrinders at Sun Studios: Part 2

sun-studios-bw-1The Wheelgrinders sitting at a booth in what is now the Sun Studios foyer and cafe but back in the ’50s it was Taylor’s restaurant. This is where Sam Phillips and the Sun employees and all of the recording artists at Sun (Elvis, Scotty Moore and Bill Black, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Warren Smith, Roy Orbison, Sonny Burgess, Billy Lee Riley to name just a few) ate breakfast, lunch and dinner or just sat and talked over a cup of coffee. It was at this booth that Elvis agreed to have Bob Neal take over his management contract from Scotty Moore in December of 1954.
